Is Viagra hurting that relationship?
He’s beginning to grow hard. Sheila sensed with growing surprise. This is definitely not the David that I’ve been used to in the past two months, Sheila thought. Not giving further thoughts that David, after much sexual stimulations in previous times, had been unable to have an erection, Sheila quickly jumped out of her clothes, and into bed.
As she waited for David to shed his boxer shorts, that was struggling to conceal his enormous bulge, she let out a gasp of pleasure. Oh, how much she had waited for this moment. Twenty five minutes later, Sheila was sated and she was telling David to stand up from her. But alas, David’s penis was still as strong as a rock from the Kilimanjaro Mountain, and it was not showing any signs of going limp.
Because Sheila loved this man very much, and because she knew the emotional trauma David had gone through as a result of those previous times that he had been unable to get an erection, she allowed David to have his fill, even though he was apparently hurting her. However, after this incident repeated itself on several occasions, she decided to have a word with David.
It was in the course of their conversation that Sheila discovered that David, in his bid to fulfil his sexual obligation to Sheila, had gone on to buy Viagra cheap on line from one of the numerous internet sites that offered the product at bargain prices. A health worker, Sheila had been distraught that David had not only sought her consent before making the decision, but had gone on to buy Viagra online without prescription.
This is a fictional story of how Viagra could create an over-sexed partner with the concomitant effect of impacting negatively in the relationship. What could have been a potentially disastrous end to a relationship, though, had been watered down by the apparent trust between the couple that must have led David to tell Sheila about his little dirty secret.
There are, however, cases in which real Viagra tablets could bring about a more dire impact on a relationship. According to a published report of the Harvard School Medicine, the report, ‘Sexuality in Midlife and Beyond’ suggests that though Viagra may help in resolving the pressure in a relationship caused by erectile dysfunction, other issues could however arise because of the drug.
The report wrote that a marked improvement could bring about other relationship issues that were different from when intercourse was not a possibility. Experts are of the opinion that the biggest problem associated with Viagra usage is the unwillingness of the men to talk to their partners about the issue. This, they believe, may lead to the creation of an imbalance in the sexual needs of the partners, which may equally lead to infidelity in the relationship because the man may be looking for a more willing partner to satisfy his greatly increased libido, which his partner has not been able to do.
Edited by Suki Hanfling, a licensed social worker and certified sex therapist, and Dr. Alan Altman, assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, the 48-page report was aimed at helping readers better grasp the emotional aspect regarding sexuality, including taking Viagra.
While a lot of success stories have been recorded with Viagra, the drug would not work when the man is not sexually interested in his partner, the report notes.
Hanfling was of the view that a great number of Viagra users do not involve their partners when they are making a decision to take the drug. This, she considered, was her major problem with Viagra.
